Name:
Michael Beasley |
 |
|
School:
Kansas State |
|
Position:
SF/PF |
|
Class: Freshman |
|
Height: 6'8" |
|
Weight: 239 |
|
Strengths: |
An
effortless scorer, Beasley is a threat to drop 30 on any given
night.
Ambidextrous and uses it to his advantage as he can finish with
either hand. A dynamic rebounder who uses his combination
of size, strength and leaping ability to control the boards.
Shows the ability to score both facing, and with his back to the
basket. A tough match-up as he can out-muscle small
forwards and out-quick power forwards. Elavates well and
shows the ability to effectively uses a pull-up jumper. A
good 3- point shooter, but falls in love with it. |
|
Weaknesses: |
While
this wasn't the same kind of problem that it's been in the past,
Beasley has a reputation for coasting through games. He's
the most gifted offensive player in the nation, when he's
interested and in the flow of the game. Don't let his
solid defensive numbers fool you, they're mainly the by-product
of gambling. He simply hasn't shown much interest on the
defensive side of the ball. Shot selection is another
concern, to often he'll stop attacking the basket and settle for
jumpers. Can get a little selfish offensively. |
|
Overall:
|
While
people want to compare him to last year's phenom Kevin Durant,
he's strikingly similar to Glenn Robinson when the "Big Dog" was
at Purdue and dominating nightly. When it all comes down
to it, Michael Beasley will be as good a player as he wants to
be. |
