Strengths: |
There
really is a lot to like when breaking down Marreese Speights.
The first thing you'll notice is that he possesses a
mechanically sound jump shot that looks like it belongs to a
guard and he'll consistently knock down shots from up to 18 feet
out. He's not shy in the paint and looks to dunk the ball
with authority. Blessed with fantastic rebounding
instincts, when he wants to he'll control the glass.
Improved by leaps and bounds in 08'. |
|
Weaknesses: |
You
almost want him to a miss a jumper early in games because if he
makes it, he can fall in love with the 15 footer. Doesn't
always seem like he's giving 100% or close to it. Had some
academic issues while at Florida and that doesn't help rumors of
a poor work ethic. Relied far to much on his athleticism
on the defensive side of the floor, needs to work on a develop
proper defensive technique. Conditioning was also an issue
in the past. |
|
Overall:
|
While
Speights is already a solid player, that you have to love is
that he's still got so much more room for improvement. If
he reaches his vast potential he could turn into Minnesota
Timberwolves Al Jefferson, but with a consistent jump shot.
Yes, there's a lot to like here. |
