Name:
JaVale McGee |
 |
|
School:
Nevada |
|
Position: PF/C |
|
Class: Sophomore |
|
Height: 7'0" |
|
Weight: 241 |
|
Strengths: |
We
hate to break out the p-word this early, but the biggest thing
McGee has going for him right now is his huge potential for
development. A smooth athlete for a 7-footer. McGee
looks surprisingly comfortable handling the ball. An
extremely impressive and creative dunker if given a path to the
basket. Finishes alley-oops well. McGee has shown
impressive shooting ability for a man his size with the ability
to step out to the NBA 3. |
|
Weaknesses: |
For a
good jump shooter, he's a terrible free throw shooter.
Maybe our biggest problem with McGee is that he's a wonderful
athlete... but he remains stationary to often and wastes his
athleticism. Lacks the strength needed to bang in the NBA.
He's a long way away from being able to contribute consistently
in the NBA. Has trouble finishing through contact.
All to often he'll settle for jump shots from 15 feet instead of
attacking the basket. |
|
Overall:
|
McGee
is one of the hardest players to sum up of all the ones we've
looked at. It's clear why NBA teams seem to be so split on
him. He has everything you can ask for in a player
athletically. We'll just have to see how much work he's
willing to put in to improve further. |
