Name:
Danilo Gallinari |
 |
|
School:
Armani Jeans Milano |
|
Position: SF |
|
Class: 1988 |
|
Height: 6'9" |
|
Weight: 210 |
|
Strengths: |
Only
20 years old, Gallinari plays much older. He's already
accustomed to the pressure of being a team's go-to scorer in a
very good EuroLeague. A mature and confident young man who
won't shy away from his responsibilities. Handles the ball
very well for a player his size and reminds some of Toni Kukoc
with his ability to distribute the ball. Understands the
game well and possesses the ability to create his own shot.
A fundamentally sound, versatile athlete who can play a number
of positions. Does a lot of damage in the 12-16 foot range
with a reliable pull-up jumper. Extremely high potential. |
|
Weaknesses: |
Not a
particularly quick or sudden player with the ball. A solid
first step overseas is only an average one when translated to
the NBA's speed. A solid rebounder, but could be a better
one if he would focus on crashing the boards more often.
Lacks the strength to hold his own in the paint. May not have
the quickness to defend NBA small forwards. A streaky
3-point shooter who goes hot and cold from the outside. |
|
Overall:
|
It's
always a mystery in how a foreign player will adapt to the NBA ,
but Gallinari seems tailor made for that style of play.
He's unique as an overseas player in that he doesn't have a lot
of bust potential. We should give him a year or two to
adapt and grow as a player. |
