Name:
Alexis Ajinca |
 |
|
School:
Hyeres-Toulon |
|
Position: PF/C |
|
Class: 2008 |
|
Height: 7'1" |
|
Weight: 225 |
|
Strengths: |
His
leaping ability and quickness have already allowed him to
establish himself as a shot blocking force, and it's clear that
opposing guards are well aware of his ability. You
wouldn't expect a player as tall as Ajinca to move as gracefully
around the court as he does. Alexis shows a smooth jump
shot with range out to the three point line. At this point
in time he's a much better offensive player facing the basket
then he is with his back to it. Has good court sense and
is a solid and willing passer. Major upside. |
|
Weaknesses: |
Right
now his biggest weakness is his thin frame. He's listed at
225lbs, but even that may be an exaggeration. He lacks the
strength to compete against older and stronger players in the
post. Somewhat prone to poor decisions right now, it's not
rare to see him turn the ball over and commit a lazy foul right
afterwards. Doesn't have any real back to the basket moves
right now, which is fine because he can't hold his post in the
lane anyway. |
|
Overall:
|
The
consensus seems to be that Ajinca projects as a center, we don't
see it. While he's added some weight over the past year
he'll still need to considerably bulk up before playing the post
in the NBA. His skills make him a more interesting power
forward in our opinion. |
